NICKELBACK Finish Writing Material For New CD

January 8, 2003

NICKELBACK frontman Chad Kroeger has been spending time in a Vancouver recording studio, writing and tracking material for the group's upcoming CD. "The new NICKELBACK record is already written and we've recorded three songs, two of which we are pretty sure are all ready to be singles," Kroeger told MuchMusic.com. However, after the success of "Hero", Chad is anxious to prove he can branch out from NICKELBACK if he chooses. "I just don't write NICKELBACK stuff, obviously, it's a lot of fun to just write," he said. "I mean, I've written, heavy, heavy stuff, that NICKELBACK can't even play. I write light stuff, I've written country songs, I've written absolutely everything and I like doing that. I mean, it's a lot of fun to sort of diversify."

As previously reported, Chad recently worked on a cover of ELTON JOHN's "Saturday Night's All Right For Fighting" with some seemingly unlikely friends. "We have myself, Kid Rock and we actually have Dimebag Darrell from PANTERA, who laid down the solo from it and we're just sort of staying on it for now," he stated.

NICKELBACK will perform their smash single, "How You Remind Me", at the American Music Awards, on Jan. 13, 2003 at 8 p.m. (EST)/7pm (CST). In addition to this being the band's first U.S. music awards performance, they are up for one nomination in the pop/rock category for "Best Band/Group/Duo". The show, which will be hosted by the Osbourne family, will be broadcast live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.
